Jon Lewis, Geoscience, will set sail for the Juan de Fuca oceanic rift on May 16, 2013 to teach a cohort of
educators attending the School of Rock aboard the JOIDES/Resolution about sub-seafloor science with an emphasis on faulting and great earthquakes.

Joe Clark, professor emeritus of the Geoscience Department, presented “Neotectonics of the Greater Monterey Area, California” at the Pacific Sections of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and the Society for Sedimentary Petrology joint conference in April 2013.

Geoscience undergraduate students Anthony Vaiana and Matt Toland presented their senior research projects on April 17, 2013, at a poster session sponsored by the Pittsburgh Geological Society. Vaiana took home the first place poster prize in the geology category.
