Mount Publishes Research on Macroporous Zones in the Biscayne Aquifer

Gregory Mount and co-authors published a research article titled “Delineation of macroporous zones in the unsaturated portion of the Miami Limestone using ground penetrating radar, Miami Dade County, Florida” in the Journal of Hydrology.

Geoscience’s Lewis Awarded NSF Grant to Enhance STEM Diversity and Training

Jon Lewis will serve as the principal investigator along with co-PI Sharon Cooper from Ocean Leadership in Washington, D.C. in a one-year proof-of-concept project called STEMSEAS (STEM Student Experiences Aboard Ships).

Geoscience Student Receives Research Grant from Geological Society of America Section

Mike Barber, Geoscience Department,  has recently been selected to receive a Northeastern Section Stephen G. Pollock Undergraduate Student Research Grant from the Geological Society of America. This award will fund Mike's research which involves mapping an ancient lava flow.

Geoscience’s Lewis and Recent Grad O’Hara Publish on Tectonic Collision in Taiwan

Jon Lewis, Dan O’Hara (BS ’14; now PhD student at U. of Oregon) and Ruey-Juin Rau from National Cheng Kung University published “Seismogenic strain across the transition from fore‐arc slivering to collision in southern Taiwan” in the Journal of Geophysical Research.
