Students Build GIS for Ligonier Township

Geography and Regional Planning students Brandon Andrews, Brooke Rountree, and Jordan Treaster are collaborating with municipal planners from Ligonier Township, Pennsylvania, in the development of a geographic information system that will enable land use and economic development analysis.

Bachelor of Science in Regional Planning Program Receives Reaccreditation

The Bachelor of Science in Regional Planning program was recently re-accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board. The program is the only accredited undergraduate program of its kind in Pennsylvania.

Regional Planning Students Present Class’s Cumulative Semester Project

The project identified and analyzed issues pertaining to the walkability of the IUP campus, including potential safety concerns along the Maple Street corridor, as well as possible crossing improvements that could be made at intersections around campus.

Department of Geography and Regional Planning alumna Rosamaria Cristello was named the inaugural recipient of the Barbara McNees Spirit of ATHENA Award Scholarship by the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, and was recognized in Pittsburgh Magazine’s yearly “40 Under 40.”

IUP-PSO Wins American Planning Association National Award

The IUP Planning Student Organization (PSO) is among the four winners for the 2016 Outstanding PSO Award. Hoch Becomes AICP Certified Environmental Planner
