Geography Major
A major in Geography at IUP begins with a core of six classes. These include major foundation areas in the subject: mapping, spatial activities of cultural and economic geography, the historic background of our discipline and an opportunity for research in the field.
Three tracks provide specialties for you to become a professional geographer. These are a GIS/Cartographer Track, an Environmental Geographer Track, and an Economic Geographer Track; moreover, a fourth choice for the undecided major is the General Geographer Track.

Regional Planning Major
A major in Regional Planning at IUP begins with a core of nine classes. These include major foundation areas in the subject: mapping, spatial activities of cultural and economic geography, the historic background to planning, and an opportunity for research in the field.
The GIS/Cartographer Track, Environmental Planner Track, and Economic Developer Track offer fields of study for becoming a professional planner.
