Kevin Turner

Associate Professor, Ceramics

Turner is interested in the interactions and responses between the landscape and its inhabitants. His work often refers to the characteristics of the landscape, as well as the xenomorphic images and shapes created upon it, or the fingerprint, so to speak, that is left behind. These pieces have associations that utilize the utilitarian form as a sculptural object referring to topographical and/or tectonic shapes and patterns from the earthen landscape.

Selected exhibitions include “The Elegant Line,” Ohio State University; “Kerameikon Ceramics Multiplex International,” Verazdin, Croatia; “Craftforms 2008 International,” Wayne Arts Center, Pa.; “Table Wares,” Manchester Craftsmans Guild, Pittsburgh, Pa.; “Combined Talents: The Florida International,” Florida State University; “Starbrick National Ceramics Competition,” Starbrick Clay Center, Ohio; “Continental Ceramics,” Minneapolis, MN; “The Sixteenth San Angelo National Ceramics Competition,” San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, Tex.; “Surface Matters” Emporia State University, Lawrence, Kans.; “The Third World Ceramic Biennale,” Icheon World Ceramic Center in South Korea; and “Fifty-fourth Premio Faenza International Ceramic Art Competition,” Museo Internazionale Delle Ceramiche in Faenza, Italy.
