Punxsutawney Summer Opportunity Program

The Punxsutawney Summer Opportunity Program is a five-week program that runs from July through the first week of August.

Students have the opportunity to earn seven to eight credits and take either Basic Writing or College Writing; Fine Arts, which is a course that has been designed for the Summer Opportunity students; and Intro to Higher Education. Students have not only a head start on earning college credits, but also will be better prepared for the rigors of a full-time semester.

Students work hard, but also have fun during the five-week program, and students share many experiences and make friendships that will be remembered for life.

The Punxsutawney Summer Opportunity Program ended on a high note when students displayed projects from both English and Fine Arts at the Celebration of Learning.  Professors Michael Stadler and Lynn Shelly coordinated the event, which included visual art and posters as well as digital displays.  Prizes were awarded to students with the best projects. Students that attended IUP Punxsutawney during the 2010–2011 school year also displayed projects from various courses at the Celebration of Learning at the end of the Spring semester. Some of those displays are shown below.
