Shijuan Liu, Department of Foreign Languages, gave an invited workshop for Chinese language faculty from several liberal arts colleges in the Great Lakes Colleges Association, held in Ann Arbor, Michigan, October 6–8, 2023.
The workshop Liu provided includes two parts. The first part is an overview of the strengths and weaknesses of generative AI technologies, and the second part is a discussion of the benefits and limitations of using generative AI technologies in Chinese language teaching and learning.
GLCA, established in 1962, currently includes 13 member colleges located in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. In addition to full-time faculty members, some teaching assistants from these colleges attended the workshops as well.
