The Liuhe (Six Harmonies) Pagoda, Hangzhou city, is in Zhejiang Province, China.
Nearly 875 million people speak some form of Chinese—that’s about one fifth of the world’s population. China’s civilization is over 5,000 years old, and the traditions, art, and values are quite different than those of Western societies.
If you are an Asian studies major or minor, you
will need to demonstrate proficiency in an Asian language. Why not choose Chinese? If you have an interest in international
business, learn the language of America’s second-largest trading partner. Take full advantage of beginning, intermediate,
and advanced Chinese courses offered at IUP.
The Foreign Language Department also offers a certificate in Chinese.
