After completing her PhD, Idamarie Laquatra was a postdoctoral fellow in preventive
cardiology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She has experience in the clinical, academic, and business fields, most recently serving as director of Global Nutrition for the H. J. Heinz Company, before joining the Department of Food in Nutrition in 2013.
As a licensed dietitian nutritionist, she has received awards and honors from the dietetics profession, including the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Outstanding Dietitian of Pennsylvania Award and the Medallion Award from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She has also authored and co-authored many articles in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Within the department, Laquatra teaches Foods, Introduction to Nutrition, Nutrition Counseling, Community Nutrition, and Sustainable Nutrition.
Laquatra’s areas of interest include nutrition counseling, nutrition and eating behaviors of consumers, and international nutrition.
