Summer Theater Returns to Waller Hall

Keystone Repertory Theater (KRT), IUP’s summer Theater-by-the-Grove, will offer a charmingly quirky summer season this year. The line up will include three musicals and one play starting Saturday, May 18, 2012. These student-directed productions will be held in Waller Hall on both the Mainstage and Studio theaters of IUP’s Performing Arts Center.

ArtsPath Residency Assists At-Risk Youth in Butler County

ArtsPath visual artist and painter Bernie Wilke recently completed a residency at the Mars Home for Youth in Mars, Pa., where the youth created a mural, to be unveiled at the free MHY Historical Tour and Open House on October 1, 2011.

The Low Down: Tales from the Margin

Featuring new ceramic work by seven contemporary clay artists, “The Low Down: Tales from the Margin” will open in the Kipp Gallery Annex on November 8, 2011, and run through December 9.

Student Ticket Purchasing Made Simpler for Lively Arts Events

The Lively Arts has streamlined the ticket purchasing process for all of its events, including the touring Broadway performance of In the Heights this Friday, October 21, 2011. The changes were made as a response to concerns by the student body and the Student Cooperative Board.

Surtasky and Giovanni in Upcoming 2011 Asia Tour

David Surtasky, director of production for the Lively Arts at IUP, and alumnus Greg Giovanni are both members of the international performance group Theatre Nohgaku. The troupe has been invited to perform in four Asian cities in June and July 2011.

Bernadette Peters is First Ovations! Event

Award-winning actor, dancer, singer, author, and humanitarian Bernadette Peters will open the inaugural season of Ovations!, IUP’s new performing arts series, on May 4, 2012, in Fisher Auditorium of IUP’s Performing Arts Center (originally scheduled for September 15, 2011).

Lively Arts at IUP Announces 2011–2012 Season

The Lively Arts at IUP unveiled its 2011–2012 seasons on the stage of Fisher Auditorium on May 3, 2011. The event, attended by nearly 125 contributors and supporters, included announcing the events of Ovations!, IUP’s new touring performing arts series.
