General Scholarships for Currently Enrolled Students

  • American Association of University Women Scholarship

    Awarded annually to nontraditional female residents of Indiana County, based upon financial need and successful completion of at least six credits leading to a degree.

    APSCUF Scholarship

    The IUP APSCUF Scholarships are awarded to students who have earned between 29 and 46 credits and who have shown involvement in IUP and community services.

    IUP Ambassadors Scholarship

    The IUP Ambassadors Scholarship was established by the membership of the IUP Ambassadors, the university’s award-winning student alumni association, to provide annual scholarship awards to students who have distinguished themselves through service and loyalty to their future alma mater and who best meet the designated criteria.

    Applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Have successfully earned at least 57 credits and be in good academic standing at the university
    • Have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or greater
    • Have demonstrated a strong commitment of service and loyalty to IUP and the community through involvement and participation in campus activities.

    Aramark Scholarship

    Established and donated by the IUP food service contractor. Ten $1,000 and five meal plans are awarded each year to undergraduate students with a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 100 earned credits. Awards are based on academic standing and financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Applications available in March on the Housing, Residential Living, and Dining “Forms” page. Application deadline is April 30. 

    AT&T Stem Award (Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education)

    AT&T is offering a $1,000 scholarship to students attending a Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) university who are pursuing a degree in a STEM related major with the intention of working in the Computer Technology, Advanced Manufacturing or Energy Related Industries and have earned at least 60 college credits with a 3.0 GPA or better at the time of the receipt of the scholarship. Recipients must have demonstrated financial need based on the need analysis from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This is a one-time scholarship to a full-time junior or senior who is a resident of Pennsylvania. Eligible candidates are required to complete an application by June 2, 2017.     William D. Greenlee Scholarship (Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education)

    The William D. Greenlee Scholarship is a $2,500 scholarship for a student attending a Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) university who is majoring in Political Science, Journalism or Communications, and has earned at least 60 college credits with a 3.0 GPA or better at the time of the receipt of the scholarship. Applicants must reside in one of the following Pennsylvania counties:  Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon, Northumberland, Perry or York. Recipients must have demonstrated financial need based on the need analysis from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  This is a one-time scholarship available to a full-time junior or senior who is a resident of Pennsylvania.     Hershey Entertainment and Resorts Hospitality Scholarship (Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education)

    HE&R is providing a $1,000 scholarship for fall semester tuition and fees to a student attending a Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) university and is pursuing a degree in hospitality, marketing, human resources, information technology or criminal justice. Applicants must have at least 60 college credits with a 3.0 GPA or better at the time of the receipt of the scholarship.  Recipients must have demonstrated financial need based on the need analysis from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This is a one-time scholarship available to a full-time junior or senior who is a resident of Pennsylvania. Eligible candidates are required to complete an application by May 19, 2017.     Fitz Dixon Memorial Scholarship (Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education)

    The Fitz Dixon Memorial Scholarship honors the late F. Eugene “Fitz” Dixon, Jr, who was a respected leader, sportsman, and a founding member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Board of Governors. Applicants for the scholarship must demonstrate academic excellence, voluntary service within the community at home and at their university, and financial need as determined by the FAFSA. Undergraduate student applicants must have passed 45 credits at a State System university with at least a 3.0 GPA. Graduate student applicants must have passed at least 9 credits at a State System university with at least a 3.5 GPA. Applicants must also include official transcripts.     PPL Community Scholarship (Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education)

    The PPL Community Scholarship Award program will serve student residents of PPL’s 29 county service area. The goal of the PPL Community Scholarship Program is to provide bridge/emergency financial aid to needy students from PPL’s service area. Applicants must have earned 60 or more credits with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Eligible applicants must also reside in one of the following PA counties: Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Clinton, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Juniata, Lackawanns, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Luzerne, Lycoming, Monroe, Montgomery, Montour, Northampton, Northumberland, Perry, Pike, Schuylkill, Snyder, Susquehanna, Union, Wayne, Wyoming and York. Students must be majoring in energy and related fields such as STEM and Business Management. Eligible candidates must apply by May 26, 2017.     Highmark Healthcare Scholarships for Rising Juniors

    The Highmark Healthcare Scholarship for Rising Juniors is funded by Highmark to help address the growing need for trained healthcare professionals to meet the demands of the Commonwealth and beyond. Applicants must be residents of Pennsylvania and pursuing a degree in the healthcare profession, such as: nursing, pre-physician assistant, pre-medicine, biology, health science, audiology, speech pathology, medical imagery, health science, and physical therapy. Applicants must also be a rising junior for the fall 2017 semester who has earned 60 credits with a GPA of 3.0 or greater and must demonstrate need as determined by the FAFSA.     Momentum, Inc. Healthcare Scholarship (Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education)

    Momentum, Inc. is providing a $1,000 scholarship for the fall semester to a student who is attending a Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) university who is majoring in healthcare-related field, including biology and healthcare informatics, and has a 3.0 GPA or better at the time of the receipt of the scholarship. Applicants must reside in one of the following Pennsylvania counties:  Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Juniata, Mifflin, Perry or York.     PSECU Credit Union Industry Scholarship for Rising Juniors and Seniors (Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education)

    The Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union (PSECU) is providing a $1,000 scholarship for the fall semester to students who are attending a Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) university and are majoring in Finance, Business, Marketing, Human Resources, Information Technology or Criminal Justice. This is a one-time scholarship available to full-time rising juniors or seniors who have completed 60 or more credits with a 3.0 GPA or better at the time application and are residents of Pennsylvania. Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).     Scott Electric Environmental Sustainability Scholarship (Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education)

    Scott Electric is providing a $1,000 scholarship for the fall semester to students who are attending a Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) university and majoring in a program that is related to Environmental Sustainability and/or Energy Conservation. This is a one-time scholarship available to full-time rising juniors or seniors who have completed 60 or more credits with a 3.0 GPA or better at the time application. Applicants must be Pennsylvania residents, however students residing in one of the following counties are NOT eligible to apply: Bradford, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Delaware, Lackawanna, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia, Pike, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming.     PSECU International Education Scholarship (Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education)

    The Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union (PSECU) is providing ten $2,000 scholarships to students who are attending a Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) university. Applicants must be enrolled as full-time undergraduate students at a PASSHE university and be a Pennsylvania resident. This scholarship is available to students who are participating in an institutionally approved overseas program who are in good academic standing.     Dr. Howard B. Buterbaugh Scholarship Fund

    A gift to the university from Dr. Howard Buterbaugh’s estate, the scholarship is to be given to students from Indiana County based on their academic performance. No application required.

    Colonial Motor Mart Scholarship

    Established by the Spadafora family in honor of their employees, this scholarship is awarded to academically talented students enrolled at IUP who have graduated from an Indiana County high school. Preference will be given to children and dependents of employees of Colonial Motor Mart, Colonial dealerships, and Colonial Land Company. Applications are sent to Colonial Motor Mart businesses for distribution to employees and are available in the Financial Aid office. Deadline: April 30. 

    Goldstrohm/Citizens’ Ambulance Scholarship

    Awarded to an employee or dependent of an employee of Citizens’ Ambulance Service, Inc., who is actively enrolled as a full-time or part-time student. Applications are available at Citizens' Ambulance Service.  

    Kuzneski Family Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to an IUP student who has a declared major in Nursing or Art or is participating in intercollegiate football. Preference is given to students graduating from Indiana County high schools. No application required.

    Miss IUP Scholarship

    A $500 scholarship is awarded to the winner of the Miss IUP pageant for use in the subsequent academic year. No application required.

    Margaret M. Patton Foundation Scholarship

    Established to assist students attending the university who are in need of such assistance. Preference will be given to students attending the Northpointe Campus. No application required.

    Lenora Pechan Scholarship

    Awarded to ROTC students as recommended by the ROTC staff. No application required.

    Phi Delta Theta Memorial Scholarship

    Established in memory of Randy Colalella and Jeffrey Diez. Funds are awarded to full-time students who are members in good standing of Phi Delta Theta and who have a GPA of at least a 3.0. Recipient is chosen by the Office of Student Activities and Organizations. No application required.

    William E. Pierce Scholarship Fund

    Established to award a one-year grant to the junior ROTC cadet with the highest standing in his/her sophomore ROTC class. No application required.  

    Martha S. Scheeren Scholarship

    Awarded to an economically disadvantaged IUP student residing in Indiana County between the ages of 23 and 50. Preference will be given to graduates of Indiana County high schools and to women. Secondary preference will be given to residents of Armstrong, Cambria, and Jefferson counties. Applications are distributed to qualifying candidates.

    Senior Class Scholarship Award

    A yearly scholarship awarded to a full-time student who has earned 75 to 90 credits at the end of the first semester of the junior year, who has a GPA of at least 3.5, and who is involved with campus affairs, organizations, and activities. Applications are distributed to qualifying candidates.

    Zonta Club of Indiana (1982 to 2007) Scholarship

    Former members of the Zonta Club provide a scholarship for a female IUP student who has earned at least 24 academic credits, is 25 or older, and is a resident of Indiana County. Eligible students must demonstrate hardship need, exemplify personal character, have a commitment to academic excellence, and demonstrate promise for future success. No application required.

    Foundation for IUP Community Volunteer Service Award

    Established in June 1998 in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Foundation for IUP, this award recognizes the volunteer commitment demonstrated by the Foundation’s board of directors throughout the years.

    This award also honors the volunteer spirit demonstrated by students at Indiana University of Pennsylvania who demonstrate outstanding volunteer service that reflects positively on the university and makes a difference in the lives of community residents and society as a whole.

    Candidates for the award must meet the following guidelines:

    • Must have earned a minimum of 24 credit hours by the end of the spring 2016 semester
    • Must be enrolled as a full-time student in good academic standing at Indiana University of Pennsylvania at the time of application
    • Must be a returning full-time student in good academic standing at Indiana University of Pennsylvania for the 2016–17 academic year
    • Must be engaged in volunteer community service that exceeds any volunteer service required as part of a class project, membership, scholarship, or other obligatory circumstance in order to be eligible for this award
