The Student Financial Aid Personal Identification Number (SFA PIN)
The SFA PIN is an electronic signature and access code provided by the U.S. Department of Education. It is a four-digit number that is linked to the name, date of birth, and social security number. Parents can also get their own SFA PIN to use for electronic signature purposes. For those who have not received one in the mail, you can obtain a pin from this website.
The SFA PIN may be used in the following situations:
- It is an electronic signature that can be used to sign FAFSA on the Web, make corrections to the FAFSA on the Web, and sign a Federal Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN), if the lender is an electronic signature participant.
- It is an access code to review personal information on the National Student Loan Database System (NSLDS), which contains loan borrowing and repayment history.
