IUP Family Weekend is scheduled for October 29–30, 2011.
Dear Families,
Welcome to IUP’s 2011 Family Weekend celebration.
When you moved your son or daughter to school in August, you may have been too busy to look around the campus, but I hope you have a chance to do so this weekend. I encourage you to stop by Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex. This new facility already has brought a great deal of fun to the community—concerts and big shows—and it provided the perfect setting for Commencement last spring. Our volleyball team is playing in the arena now—this weekend, in fact—and we look forward to the start of basketball season on November 11.
It’s worth mentioning that this year’s Family Weekend football game is the Coal Bowl, an annual rivalry game between IUP and California University of Pennsylvania that is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Coal Association. We also are honoring service veterans during halftime.
IUP’s enrollment has topped 15,000 again this year, and Forbes Magazine has included the university in its Top Colleges listing for the second year in a row. While we are happy with those facts, we are more grateful for the confidence you have placed in the university by becoming part of its family—and by making IUP part of your family.
