About Our Graduate Programs in English
IUP has long-standing, internationally recognized graduate programs. Our graduate programs have strong reputations because they involve well-published and experienced faculty members, a culturally diverse population of students, a curriculum that supports teacher-scholars, and high rates of completion.
Doctoral Programs
We offer two doctoral programs in English. Both programs lead to the Ph.D.degree in English. A survey by the Modern Language Association found IUP’s doctoral programs in English to be among the most successful in employment for their graduates.
Master’s Programs
IUP also offers four different concentrations in its Master of Arts degree in English. All of our M.A. programs require 36 credit hours. A thesis is optional. Each program has its own set of requirements and admissions policies:
