Application Requirements

Students interested in the Post-Baccalaureate English 7-12 Teaching Certificate program will need to meet minimum application requirements as established by IUP's School of Graduate Studies and Research and follow all of the requirements in the College of Education's three-step process.

Prospective students must have earned three undergraduate credits in math, three undergraduate credits in English composition, and three undergraduate credits in English literature.

Before being accepted to the program, students will undergo a thorough transcript review and recommendation that ensures they have the qualifications required in English for IUP and by the Pennsylvania Department of Education to earn a teaching certification. While enrolled in the program, students must maintain a 3.0 grade-point-average to remain eligible for Pennsylvania state teaching certification.

Applications accepted year-round but are encouraged before April 1 to be considered for school placements.
