Retired IUP Professor Blair Celebrates 100th Birthday

On November 4, 2009, Dr. Lois Blair will celebrate her one hundredth birthday. Blair came to the Indiana State Teacher’s College in 1946 to teach English in the junior-high grades of the Keith School.

Outdoor Learning Center to Open in Fall 2010

Dr. Meghan Twiest is in charge of the construction going on in the courtyard behind Stouffer Hall. It is the beginnings of a new outdoor learning center that will be completed during the Spring 2010 semester. There will be an aesthetic area complete with a waterfall and pond, as well as a variety of plant life all around the courtyard.

Cannon, Sophomore in Special Education, Receives Frank Bolden Scholarship

Sophomore Suzannah Victoria Cannon from Pittsburgh, a major in the Department of Special Education and Clinical Services, has been selected to receive one of only six prestigious Frank Bolden Scholarships awarded annually to individuals who demonstrate a commitment to early childhood education and to children with special needs.

College of Education and Educational Technology Announces Distinguished Alumni Scholar for 2009

When Jyotsna Pattnaik came to IUP to enroll in the doctoral program in Spring 1992, she was already recognized as a teacher and teacher educator in India. Now she has been honored by IUP’s College of Education and Educational Technology with a 2009 Distinguished Alumni Scholar Award.

Marshak Speaks at International Family Therapy Association Conference

Dr. Laura Marshak, a professor in the Department of Counseling, was a presenter for the International Family Therapy Association annual conference in Slovenia in March. The conference’s main audience was married and family therapists across the world.
