Economics Alumna Black Presents Co-Authored Paper at 2015 Pennsylvania Economic Association Conference

A research paper by economics alumni Jessica Black and Savanna Bonds, “Dropping Out of High School: An Analysis of Pennsylvania Counties,” won the Best Undergraduate Student Paper award at the 2015 Pennsylvania Economic Association Conference, marking the fourth time in the last five years that IUP economics majors have won the award.

Jozefowicz and Economics Alumnus Nelson Publish on County Crime Rates in Pennsylvania

“‘Keystone Kops’ and Crime Theories: A Panel Data Analysis of Pennsylvania County Crime Rates,” co-authored by economics alumnus Zackary Nelson (’14) and James Jozefowicz, has been accepted for publication by the Pennsylvania Economic Review.

Economics Faculty Member Sissoko Gives Invited Presentations, Receives Grant, and Participates in Service Activities

Economics faculty member Yaya Sissoko participated as a visiting faculty member at the University of Bamako, received as USRC Senate Travel Grant to present two papers, served homemade food at International Unity Day, and helped host African Night through the Pan African Student Association.

Economics Club Joins Other Student Groups to Raise Funds for Relay for Life

The Economics Club, Student Finance Association, Stephenson Hall Relay for Life Team, and Phi Gamma Nu combined forces to raise close to $1,500 for the American Cancer Society’s 2015 Relay for Life.

Twenty Economics Students Present Original Research and Represent the Department at the 2015 Undergraduate Scholars Forum

Covering topics ranging from political economy and economic well-being to development and finance to applied microeconomics, the students presented original research in five different sessions under the guidance of six faculty members.
