IUP Justice Research Fellowship Students Present Research to Indiana County Officials

Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s 2025–26 Justice Research Fellows—Lauren Connor, Reia Sanchez, Kelly Szolek, and Jackson White—presented their original research to Indiana County officials at the Indiana County Courthouse on April 29.

FIEC Students Present as Part of 2026 Scholars Forum

The Department of Finance and Economics is very pleased that numerous students participated in the twenty-first annual Scholars Forum held at the IUP KCAC on April 8, 2026. We wish to thank volunteer judges, faculty mentors, and the Scholars Forum planning committee who organized this event and gave of their own time and talent to afford our students this exceptional opportunity to participate in a professional conference atmosphere.

FIEC Students Attend 2026 Curt Roberts “Step Up to the Plate” Event at PNC Park

The Department of Finance and Economics is pleased that several students attended the Curt Roberts “Step Up to the Plate” event held at PNC Park on April 15. Among the 12 IUP students selected to attend, six have declared majors in finance and/or economics.

Sissoko Named 2026 Garvin-Kort Faculty Award for Research in Economics Recipient

Yaya Sissoko has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 Garvin-Kort Faculty Award for Research in Economics. Generous donations from 1981 IUP Distinguished Alumni Award recipient John Kort  ’74 and the late Alexander Garvin, economics faculty 1969–98, provide support for faculty research.

On March 27, Yaya Sissoko hosted economics and finance alumnus Caleb Moore ’07, M’18 in his Monetary Economics course. On April 6 and 8, Jim Jozefowicz hosted IUP economics alumna Angel Alcantara ’23, M‘25 in his Advanced Econometrics course.
