Application Procedures

  • IUP invites scholarship applications from undergraduate students in their junior or senior year of study at IUP. If awarded the scholarship, one to two years of full support are given in exchange for up to two years of service in the federal government following graduation.

    Please submit the following documents as your application material. 

    1. Official transcripts from higher education institutions attended so far. Current IUP students may provide a copy of their URSA transcript from. Other attended institutions need an official transcript.
    2. Current resume with current contact information included (including email address).
    3. Two reference letters presenting an evaluation of academic (or professional) performance and potential for pursuing an undergraduate degree in information assurance. At least one letter should be from a faculty member from your current academic institution.
    4. Statement of Intent (no more than 2,500 words) describing your:
      1. goals and motivations to pursue a career in Information Assurance
      2. leadership potential and commitment to service
      3. knowledge and experiences in information assurance
      4. career plans in a government (local, state or federal) agency
      5. ability to be effective in writing, presenting and expressing facts and ideas
    5. Complete an interview with SFS faculty members. Interviews will be set up after the application deadline and will occur in person.
    6. Sign a Statement of Agreement, which will be provided in the interview.

    The application deadline is April 1. All materials must be received by the end of the day. You will be notified by e-mail when your application is complete.
