Albert Wutsch retired from his position as department chairperson in October 2015. Chef Wutsch is a certified executive chef and a certified culinary educator. He was a Culinary Arts faculty member at IUP for 24 years.
Previously, Wutsch was department chairperson and chef instructor for the University of Montana College of Technology and chef instructor at the Florida Culinary Institute.
An honors graduate from the Culinary Institute of America, Wutsch earned a BS in Education, summa cum laude, from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Wutsch has also self-publishied two cookbooks, The Art of Barbecuing and Grilling Game and The Art of Cooking Venison. He also reviews culinary manuscripts for Simon & Schuster and writes cooking columns for national magazines. In addition, he is a popular guest chef at cooking seminars and has participated in numerous radio and television interviews and demonstrations.
An expert on game cookery, Wutsch regularly demonstrates cooking and butchering at major outdoor sporting shows, including the National Pheasant Fest in Des Moines, Iowa, and the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Chef Wutsch initiated IUP’s relationship with the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation program, ProStart. He judged numerous ProStart Student Invitational culinary competitions at the state and national levels and also coordinated and instructed the ProStart Summer Institute for high school instructors hosted at IUP in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.
