- The Criminology Department sponsors several student organizations: Alpha Phi Sigma, the Criminology Association, and the Criminology Graduate Student Organization.

- Criminology internship students get to apply their knowledge of criminology/criminal justice to the actual daily activities of a professional criminal justice agency.

- The John J. Prandy Memorial Award was established in memory of the late Corporal John “Jack” Prandy, a twenty-three-year veteran with the Pennsylvania State Police Force.
- Pittsburgh Police Officer Stephen J. Mayhle KPMG Memorial Scholarship
- The Pittsburgh Police Officer Stephen J. Mayhle/KPMG Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Stephen J. Mayhle by KPMG, an international audit, tax and advisory firm, with the assistance of KPMG employee, Julie Duvall, a school friend of Mayhle and his widow, Shandra.
