Professor Jennifer Gossett from the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice has been appointed to serve as editor of the Criminal Justice Policy Review. Gossett is the successor to Daniel Lee, who served as editor for the past four years.

CJPR was established in 1986 by Robert Mutchnick and Paul McCauley (professors emeriti) at IUP. CJPR is a peer-reviewed academic journal focused on the development and evaluation of criminal justice policy and attempts to connect academicians, policy makers, and practitioners in their work to identify and develop the best responses to today's crime problems. CJPR is now published by Sage Journal with nine issues per year and is affiliated with the Northeastern Association of Criminal Justice Sciences. Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice colleagues Kathleen Hanrahan (past editor) and Bitna Kim serve CJPR as members of the editorial board.

The most recent issue of CJPR is a special issue dedicated to research on public defense. The seven articles included in that issue evaluate innovations in policy related to public defense, identify the motivations of public defenders, and explore the relationships that public defenders have with their clients. The issue documents that public defense is a critical component of our criminal justice system.

The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice serves IUP students by offering bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs.
