the present with practices that promote greater awareness, help focus
attention, deepen a sense of presence, and build compassion towards others. Mindfulness allows us to respond more consciously to what happens in our lives,
rather than reacting automatically with old habits.

Mindfulness is easier to
learn and practice with the support of others. The Mindfulness Living and Learning
Community at IUP offers relaxation and meditation sessions, as well
as a course in mindfulness.
