Late Graduate from Johnstown Gifts $200,000 to Counseling Program in His Estate

The late Robert Flora, a 1978 graduate of IUP’s psychology clinical mental health counseling master’s program, left instructions revealed after his death to donate $200,000 from his estate to IUP for student scholarships.

Hecht Awarded IUP Graduate Student Research Grant

Nice Publishes Research Article in Journal of Counseling and Development

Matthew Nice, Department of Counseling, recently published a research article in the Journal of Counseling and Development, the flagship journal of the American Counseling Association and the counseling profession. The article analyzes 31 years of wellness and well-being counseling research.

IUP Students to Be Part of Initiative to Help Struggling Students in Cambria County

IUP’s Department of Counseling has been invited to join the Cambria County Drug and Alcohol Program and REACH (Reaching Educational Achievements with Clinical Mental Health), a school-based mental health agency, to provide interns for supervised counseling and support for students in Cambria County schools.

Nice Publishes Twice in Journal of School Counseling

Matthew Nice recently co-authored two new articles published in the Journal of School Counseling. "The School Counselor's Role in Supporting Students with High-Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder with the Transition to College" and "School Counselors’ Use of Marcia’s Identity Status Theory for Career Advisement and Consultation and Collaboration" will both be available to readers in early 2022.

The Association for Specialists in Group Work’s Special Initiatives Committee created a document offering 10 tips for the facilitation of virtual groups.

Mary Renck Jalongo, professor emerita, Professional Studies in Education, recently published the edited book Canine-Campus Connection: Roles for Dogs in the Lives of College Students. Lorraine Guth, Department of Counseling, and Theresa McDevitt, IUP Libraries, collaborated on three of the chapters.
