John McCarthy, Department of Counseling, recently published “Counselor Preparation in England and Ireland: A Look at Six Programs” in Professional Counselor.

The Department of Counseling announces a call for applications for the newly established Heroes in Helping awards, saluting youth in grades 6–12 who have demonstrated exemplary involvement in helping activities related to their schools or communities.

John McCarthy, a professor in IUP’s Department of Counseling and a member of the Westmoreland County Suicide Awareness and Prevention Task Force, authored “Let’s Talk About Suicide” in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on November 17, 2011, in conjunction with the thirteenth annual International Survivors of Suicide Day.
