IUP Community Music School

IUP Community Music SchoolThe IUP Community Music School, located in Cogswell Hall, provides noncredit private lessons, ensembles, and classes in music to students of all ages in the Indiana community.

Our fall session begins Tuesday, September 2, 2014, one week after the start of the IUP fall semester and the day after Labor Day and, in most cases, continues until Thanksgiving. Some classes and the ensembles will begin slightly later and continue into December. Be sure to check the catalog for the start/end dates of what you're interested in taking.

Fall offerings include private lessons on all instruments with various levels of instructors, ensembles, and piano and guitar classes.

New this year is Musikgarten, a program of instruction with its roots in the Kindermusik system and Montessori School. Using all-natural Musikgarten products, these Saturday morning classes guide a parent and child through a variety of music and movement activities designed to nurture the musical aptitude found in all children. Sign up early as these three levels of classes—Family Music for Babies (newborn–18 months); Family Music for Toddlers (18 months–three years); and Cycle of Seasons (ages three to five years)—will fill up quickly and have limited room.

Registration for all classes, ensemble, and lessons is now open. Unless arrangements are made with the class instructor and the IUPCMS coordinator, class registration will close on August 29. Be sure to e-mail community-music@iup.edu with questions on whether you can still enroll in a class. Lesson registration is ongoing and can be done at any point during the semester.

Note: The “Register Now” button below is for NEW students only.
Returning Students: E-mail community-music@iup.edu to register for the fall and with inquiries.
