Recruiters from more than 70 employers and graduate programs will be attending the IUP Spring Career Fair in a virtual format through Handshake on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

The event is sponsored by the Career and Professional Development Center and is organized by Kevin Fleck, assistant director for Employer Engagement, and Jan Shellenbarger, Special Events coordinator.

"TheIUP Spring Career Fair provides students with an opportunity to explore employers and career opportunities that they may have never thought about," Shellenbarger said. "Participating also provides students with an opportunity for face-to-face contact with recruiters and a chance to polish their networking skills."

"To participate, students log in to their Handshake account using their IUP SSO password at iup.joinhandshake.com," said Fleck. "We strongly encourage students to complete their profiles.

"Once you are logged in, you can find theSpring Career Fair by navigating to the events section and clicking onVirtual Fairsto narrow the selections. You can also choose to only view events hosted by your school," he said. "Once you have registered for the Spring Career Fair, you can sign up for 1:1 and group sessions with our wide selection of employers. The 1:1 sessions are 10 minutes, and group sessions are 30 minutes where multiple students can sign up at a time. The fair uses a video format, so be sure to allow the system to access your microphone and camera and that you are professionally dressed."

"There are currently more than 1,000 one-on-one and 140 group sessions available," Shellenbarger said. "Since the career fair is a virtual event, students can network with employers from their homes, without having to go out into the February weather."

Fleck added, "If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the CPDC, and we will be happy to help."
