5:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m. | Fourth Floor, Davis Hall President Michael Driscoll announced when he took office in 2012 that he would engage all university stakeholders in developing a shared vision for the future of IUP. In an innovative approach, he has enlisted Journalism students, under the direction of Professor Michele Papakie, to implement the strategic visioning project (SVP) over the 2013 calendar year.
The SVP Student Team consists of 30 students in Papakie's spring semester Public Relations Presentation Making course. The team has learned how to facilitate interview groups and manage brainstorming sessions among students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, community leaders, and business owners. The team will conduct three group interviews on the fourth floor of Davis Hall on IUP's campus.
Each session will begin with an explanation of the project's goals, followed by discussion of the ways IUP can capitalize on its strengths, diminish its weaknesses, maximize its opportunities, and limit the consequences of its external threats.
