The Eberly College of Business and Information Technology played a key role as a sponsor of the twentieth annual conference of the American Society for Competitiveness (ASC) held in Falls Church, Virginia, from October 29 to 31, 2009. The theme of the conference was “Transformation: Sustaining Competitiveness in an Interdependent World.”

Nearly thirty undergraduate and MBA students, along with three faculty members from the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology, visited the Saxonburg manufacturing plant of MEDRAD on November 13, 2009.

The students from the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology had huge success in the recent Common Freshman Reader Essay Contest. There were 250 essay submissions, and of the nine winners, seven were from the Eberly College.

Eleven students from the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology placed second overall in a business competition held at Peoples Educational Society (PES) in Bangalore, India, from October 9 to 11, 2009. IUP students competed against over one thousand students from fifty Indian business schools.

On October 15, 2009, Ellen Ruddock was a guest on the Empress of Biz program. She was interviewed by the host of the show, JoAnn Forrester, regarding the Center for Family Business at IUP.

On Wednesday and Thursday, October 14 and 15, 2009, Mr. Eugene Bem will visit the IUP Eberly College of Business and Information Technology as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence.

Nineteen individuals representing thirteen small businesses are currently participating in a noncredit MBA Certificate Program offered by the Department of Business Development and Training Services.
