Biology Courses and Schedules

Special Notice for Spring and Fall 2013 semesters regarding BIOL 210 and BIOL 220!

To All Biology majors, from Dr. Luciano, chair of the department:

BIOL 210 Botany and BIOL 220 Zoology will be offered in an alternative format in Spring and Fall 2013.

Instead of the usual studio format with two 2.5-hour meetings each week, the courses will be offered instead with separate lab and lecture meetings. The lecture will meet twice each week, and there will be one lab meeting. This format is the same as that used in many other Biology courses such as Genetics. The revised format will allow for more flexible scheduling for students.

The alternative courses are listed in URSA as BIOL 281 Special Topics courses. There is one each for Botany and Zoology. If you need Botany or Zoology, you should enroll in one or the other of the 281 courses as listed in Banner. For the Spring and Fall 2013 semesters, the 281 courses will count as 210 or 220 and will substitute for these courses in the Biology core curriculum (required for all students).

We know that there are students on a waiting list for Botany and Zoology, and we will try to get these students into the 281 courses first. If you placed your name on the wait list for 210 or 220, check with Ms. Reckhart (e-mail or 357-2352) to make sure you are still there. You should also let her know if you want your name removed from the wait list.

Thanks, CL
