The B.S. in Biochemistry is a four-year degree curriculum.

It begins with foundation courses in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics in the first two years. Upper-level biochemistry courses as well as additional biology and chemistry courses are completed in the third and fourth years. There is a strong emphasis on laboratory experiences, including an independent research project under supervision of a faculty mentor. The Biochemistry Program also offers a minor in Biochemistry.

B.S. in Biochemistry

Graduates of this program can expect to be qualified for positions in industrial and government research laboratories and in industrial production facilities. Those seeking advanced training will be qualified for graduate programs in a variety of fields, including biochemistry, biology, chemistry, and molecular biology and for professional schools in medicine or pharmacy.

Minor in Biochemistry

This minor is designed to provide a core background in biochemistry to complement a major in another area such as biology, chemistry, nutrition, or safety science.

A complete description of degree requirements and courses can be found in the IUP Undergraduate Catalog.
