If the student is enrolled in the Cook Honors College, the thesis is not charged against your department's allotment of independent study money.
Be sure to write "HONORS COLLEGE STUDENT" boldly in the upper right hand corner of the "Request for Independent Study" form so that the cost is charged to the correct budget.
