The Summer Asian Language Scholarship is a
grant of $500 which can be used for a summer Asian language program overseas or
in the U.S. This can be for any level of language study.

The Japanese program is offering a new class,
ASIA 281-002 Anime, in Fall 2013. Students will meet 3:30–4:45 p.m. on
Mondays and Wednesdays. This will count as an elective.

$20,000 Salary Assistance Grant from the Japan Foundation.

Shijuan Liu, Asian Studies, received the ACPAC Mobile Learning Initiative grant in spring 2013, which allowed her to purchase 10 iPad minis for her
Chinese language courses in fall 2013.

The Japanese Program hosted the first Asian Karaoke Night on April 6. The Indiana Gazette visited, and an article about the event made the front page of the April 9 issue of the Gazette.

The Asian Studies Club annouces its Spring 2013 Film Festival beginning March 6. All films will be in their original language, with subtitles. Admission is free, and all are welcome.

On March 1–2, 2013, IUP will host the first Asian Studies Undergraduate Regional Conference. Undergraduate students from all disciplines are invited to present the results of their field or coursework-based research in the field of Asian Studies.
