    Your Path To Personal Creative Development and Achievement

    The 30-credit Master of Arts in Art is a practice-oriented degree, offered on campus during the summer and online during the fall and winter. 

    Designed to accommodate the working art educator who desires a studio-focused degree, it also fulfills the requirements for PDE Level II Certification.

    Open to artists who hold a BA, BFA, or BSEd degree and desire to bring their studio practice to the next level. See the full curriculum from the IUP Graduate Catalog.

    As a student you will:

    A student creates art using metal
    • Get input from a range of artists from different disciplines in our unique graduate studio critique
    • Learn about the precepts of contemporary fine art aesthetics and professional practices directed toward the creation of works of art
    • Develop an MA studio project, culminating in an MA exhibition
    • Work on your art in your own individual studio (This is dependent on studio space availability)

    Choose from these areas of study:

    • Painting – Engage in contemporary approaches and ideas relevant to the medium while cognizant of its masterful traditions and techniques
    • Drawing – Explore in depth the ideas and methods that stimulate conceptual and technical refinement
    • Jewelry and Metals – Work in a wide variety of traditional and contemporary techniques specific to the discipline
    • Ceramics – Experiment and refine within our newly renovated ceramics studio
    • Sculpture – Innovate and shape the physical world in response to life around you
    • Wood Turning and Furniture Design – Develop your talents and skills in our remarkable Center for Turning and Furniture Design
