    Encompassing major touring exhibits, regional artists, and faculty and student work, there is something for every taste in this year's exhibit schedule.

  • James Innes: A Retrospective

    September 9–December 9, 2017; Reception September 9, 6:00–8:30 p.m.; University Museum, First Floor Sutton Hall

    James Innes taught drawing, painting, and art appreciation for over 25 years at IUP. Over 30 of his works, including paintings and prints, will be on display for this exhibition.

  • SIX x ATE: Quid Pro Quo

    September 11–October 13, 2017; Reception September 14, 6:00–9:00 p.m.; Kipp Gallery, First Floor Sprowls Hall

    Curated by Casey Droege and Johanna Lasner, SIX x ATE: Quid Pro Quo features emerging and established artists from the Pittsburgh region, showcasing a diverse range of works.

  • Gala: Cirque du Musée

    Friday, September 29, 2017; 6:00–10:00 p.m.; University Museum and Blue Room, Sutton Hall

    The Museum’s annual fundraising gala. Join us for a themed evening of fine art, drinks, dining, entertainment, dancing, and silent auctions. Advance reservations are required.

    Naomi J. Falk’s portable landscapes consider our relationships and collaborations with the manufactured and natural landscapes we inhabit.

  • Associates: Adam Frelin

    January 22–March 2, 2018; Reception March 2, 5:00–7:00 p.m.; Kipp Gallery, First Floor Sprowls Hall

    From reference images collected since an undergraduate at IUP, Adam Frelin takes his freestanding cutouts transforming the gallery into something like a brain. These floating images appear and disappear as you walk––or think––your way around the space.

  • Memory and Magic: Folk Artists in Western Pennsylvania

    February 3–March 10, 2018; Reception February 3, 6:00–8:30 p.m.; University Museum, First Floor Sutton Hall

    Folk art featuring scenes of daily life, such as those painted by Linton Park, Eunice McCloskey, Richard Cooper, and others, are featured in this exhibit. Also included are imaginative works of Mary Hamilton of Clarion County and others. The pieces are from the University Museum’s permanent collection and on loan from private collections.

  • MFA Thesis Exhibitions

    March 31–April 28, 2018; Reception March 31, 6:00–8:30 pm; University Museum, First Floor Sutton Hall; Kipp Gallery and Annex Gallery, First Floor Sprowls Hall

    These concurrent exhibitions showcase works by the spring 2018 Master of Fine Arts candidates and celebrate the final stages of their graduate degree work. Featuring a wide variety of styles and media, the exhibits are presented across three campus venues.

  • University Museum Goes Downtown

    April 11–May 21, 2018; Reception April 13, 6:00–8:00 p.m.; Artists Hand Gallery, Philadelphia Street, Indiana

    This annual exhibit features work from the museum’s permanent collection by women artists. Enjoy a cup of fine coffee or tea as you take in the exhibit.

  • 2018 BA and BFA Exhibition

    May 3–12, 2018; Reception May 3, 5:00–7:00 p.m.; Kipp Gallery, First Floor Sprowls Hall

    The BA and BFA Thesis Exhibition highlights the work of undergraduate art students graduating this year. The exhibition showcases the university’s brightest undergraduate talent in the field of visual arts.
