Your best bet is to read these instructions entirely before applying.

Steps 1–2: Review admission requirements and consider a pre-evaluation of your credits

  1. Review transfer student admission requirements.
  2. You may request a pre-evaluation of your transfer credits.

Steps 3–5: Complete the application

  1. Complete the online application. Or download a paper application.
  2. Indicate your first- and second-choice majors. If you’re not admissible to your first, you’ll be considered for your second.
    • If you submit improved transcripts and/or SAT scores with a request to be reconsidered for your first choice, we’ll re-review your application, provided that space is available. You don’t need to reapply.
    • If you’re unsure: Choose the majors you feel most interested in now, or choose an “undecided” major in the academic college that includes most of your interests. You can change your major and even college later.
    • Students interested in secondary education: Look for your major according to the subject you want to teach or select “undecided” in the college that’s most closely aligned with your interests. Do not choose “Undeclared Teacher Education.”
    • If you’re interested in a major not on the list: Contact the Admissions Office for assistance.
  3. Provide any additional information that may be required for your major by the academic department. Review Special Major Requirements for Transfer Students.

Step 6: Pay the application fee

  1. Submit your $50 application fee.

Step 7: Submit required materials

  1. Submit required materials:
    • Official transcripts from all previously attended colleges, universities, and and/or other schools.
    • Cook Honors College Supplement Form (only students applying to Cook Honors College)

Step 8: Consider submitting optional materials

  1. You may also submit these optional materials:
    • Letter(s) of recommendation
    • Personal essay
    • Transcripts for college coursework completed in high school/dual enrollment (to receive academic credit at IUP)
    • AP test scores (to receive academic credit at IUP)
