One of the driving forces behind higher education is career preparation.

At IUP, we provide students with the education and training they need to be competitive in the workforce and the resources they need to find jobs and prepare for graduate school.

The Career Development Center at IUP helps students to explore employment options and get their careers started.

Mock interviews, job fairs, individual advising, and many other services are available.

Employment and Graduate Studies Facts and Figures

  • Job fairs have been held on campus for accounting and finance, safety sciences, internships, and criminology and government. IUP students also attend larger regional job fairs.
  • Typically, more than 95 percent of IUP graduates are working, continuing their education, or serving in the military after graduation.
  • In 2006–2007, nearly 250 employers visited campus to recruit graduates for employment in business, industry, finance, hospitality, government, law enforcement, human and social services, and education.
  • IUP graduates are accepted into graduate and professional schools across the country. Our faculty members provide mentoring and guidance in the graduate school process.

Internships

Internships help you to gain actual work experience and build connections and skills that lead you to future job opportunities.

IUP has one of the largest internship programs in Pennsylvania. Regardless of whether your major requires an internship, IUP encourages you to pursue these types of experiential opportunities.

Where do our students intern? Everywhere. The Career Development Center can guide you through the process.
