IUP is deeply committed to the development of student research, and places a high priority on the quality of research you’ll produce. Not only does IUP encourage student research in collaboration with IUP faculty members, but it also provides excellent student resources and opportunities to enhance and share that research. As a student, you’ll have access to our state-of-the-art facilities and latest technology, with resources like our Applied Research Lab. You’ll even have opportunities to present your research through conferences, symposia, exhibits, and colloquiums like our Graduate Scholars Forum.
IUP is classified by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as a doctoral/research institution that offers students opportunities to work side by side with faculty members on research projects and scholarly activities, as well as present their work nationally and internationally.
IUP has the greatest number of Fulbright faculty scholars in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (59). On the national front, in the past decade, IUP has produced six student Fulbright winners, four Goldwater Scholars, one Truman Fellowship winner, three Ali-Zaidi award winners (recognizing the most outstanding graduate in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education), two Gilder Lehrman History Scholars, a Gallagher Fellowship for excellence in political science, four Freeman-Asia scholarship recipients, and two Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts national winners.
