    Background Clearance Process

    • After signing and returning your agreement, IUP Human Resources will e-mail you instructions on how to begin the background clearance process.
    • Human Resources will confirm with you and with the School of Graduate Studies and Research that all clearances are in process by providing you with a completed "Background Clearance Request" form.
    • Once you receive your completed "Background Clearance Request" form, please follow the steps below to be placed on the IUP Payroll.

    For Student Payroll Services

    • Report to Student Payroll Services in Sutton Hall, G-11, prior to your graduate assistantship start date with the completed mandatory forms noted below. 
      • If your GA assignment is not on IUP Main Campus, you may mail the required documentation along with the Remote Hire form to the following address:  Student Payroll Services, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, G11 Sutton Hall, 1011 South Drive, Indiana, PA, 15705.
    • Failure to complete documentation by the deadlines provided may result in the cancellation of your GA Agreement.
    • Students are not permitted to begin their GA assignments until all paperwork is complete and submitted.

    Information required by Payroll Services for first-time graduate assistants (in order for graduate assistant stipends to be paid). Please note that all forms should be brought to the Payroll Office completed but unsigned.

    Information required by Payroll Services for returning graduate assistants (in order for graduate assistant stipends to be paid). Please note that all forms should be brought to the Payroll office completed but unsigned.

    Note: All forms must be completed and presented no later than the first day of employment.
