PREPARING FOR A TAX AUDIT--AND A CAREER  Professor Martha Ann Armstrong and students Dwayne Scott Jr., Raven Sams, Yao Wang, and Jack George go over documents typically used in a tax audit: checkbooks, 1099s, tax forms, and historical stock listings. Chances are good these seniors will soon prepare for tax audits for real, when they enter the work force.

You get the balanced education you need to succeed in accounting. You can also double major in related fields such as finance and legal studies, management information systems, management, and marketing. This major also provides students with the opportunity to participate in the Business Honors Program.

BS in Accounting

  • Gain instruction on statistics, tax laws, financial systems analysis, cost accounting, auditing, and more
  • Learn about financial reporting system design and analysis, managerial accounting, taxation, and nonprofit accounting

Internships

  • We recognize the value of real-world experience and recommend that all of our majors get internships.
  • We work with many businesses and organizations not only in the region but also in other parts of the country to create internship opportunities for our students. If you work hard, you will get an internship that uses your accounting skills.
  • You could get 3–6 credits for your internship experience.
