Brenda Frazier, social/political activist and member of the Allegheny County Council, will present the keynote message at the African American Cultural Center’s Pre-Commencement Reception and Awards Program on Friday, May 17, 2013.

The annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday is January 21, 2013. Here are several events that will be going on in the Indiana community that will be available for your participation.

The campus community is cordially invited to Chevy Chase Community Center and Indiana NAACP annual Community Holiday Party on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 5 p.m.at Chevy Chase Community Center, 640 N. Fifth St., Indiana, PA. IUP students will assist in various ways, including hosting crafts sessions with children, serving guests, and decorating. Guests are requested to bring a food item to share while major food items will be provided.

Everyone is invited to a free Kwanzaa celebration, sponsored by the African American Cultural Center, on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at 5:00 p.m. in the HUB Ohio Room. Bring a dish for the feast, and come enjoy a special speaker presentation, music, dance, and more.

The African American Cultural Center, students in the Ujamma Living-Learning Community, and Interfaith Council ask members of the campus community to include in their holiday giving a donation of a nonperishable item to the Ujamaa annual fall food drive, December 3–14, 2012.

President Driscoll was the keynote speaker at the 23rd annual Directions dinner and orientation for entering freshmen and diverse students at the African American Cultural Center on September 20, 2012.

On October 5, 2012, several members of the African American Alumni Scholarship Committee known as “The Players” returned to campus during IUP Homecoming weekend and attended the AACC annual Homecoming Cultural Enrichment Night.
