IUP Annual Kwanzaa Celebration: Kwanzaa 2012

Kwanzaa is an annual African American Holiday Celebration of family, friends, culture, and the community. IUP 2012 Kwanzaa activities is themed "A Little Bit of History, A Little Bit of Soul" and will include the traditional Kwanzaa Ceremony and performances by IUP Voices of Joy Gospel Choir, IUP Africa Dance Ensemble, guest performers Tobey Foyeh and Orchestra Africa of Nigeria, and guest speaker Dr. Fererai Trent, Oprah's "all-time favorite guest" and founder of Tinagana )Shoma for 'it is achievable'), which builds and repair schools in rural Zimbabwe. The program will also include the Kwanzaa Dinner and the guest is asked to bring a cover dish to share, which is in keeping with the spirit of Kwanzaa, and to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to a local Food Bank through the Ujamaa Food Drive. Everyone is invited to attend this events as we close the semester in celebration of friendship, diversity, and fellowship. The program is FREE and opened to all. To RSVP, please contact the AACC at 724-357-2455. Remember, to please let us know the covered dish (requested, not REQUIRED) that you will bring. A great time can be expected by all. This is also a refreshing way to enter final exams. Hope to see you there!
