]]> Mrs. Elaine Smith ejacobs 2008-09-20T14:54:00Z IUP has received $2.7 million in funding to present Act 44 Constable Training for two districts in Pennsylvania.

This competitive contract is from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. The training will be administered through the IUP Criminal Justice Training Center starting in fall 2009.

IUP’s award reflects an increase in funding of $1,330,999 from the previous year.

The center is part of the university’s criminology department and the College of Health and Human Services. It  offers noncredit training programs for police recruits and law enforcement personnel.

“Director Roger White is to be commended for securing this competitive grant for IUP,” said Dr. Carleen Zoni, dean of IUP's College of Health and Human Services. “Not only was he successful in securing this funding, he has also ensured that IUP will have the right to bid on this project for the next four years.”
