These military veterans will inspire you with their story and their music the same way they reached out to millions as finalists on America’s Got Talent. Comprised of formerly homeless veterans who enrolled in the New Directions program in Los Angeles, the choir is an award-winning a cappella group that sings renditions of doo-wop, soul, traditional gospel, and popular music.

Reserved seating ticket prices are $23 regular, $18 discount, and $12 with I-Card. Individual tickets are on sale through the HUB Box Office beginning October 16—in person, by calling 724-357-1313, or at IUP Tickets.

This event is sponsored by the College of Fine Arts’ Lively Arts Ovations! Series in conjunction with the African American Cultural Center and various other university departments.

Everyone is invited to a reading of the play Spark from 8:00–10:00 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2012, in the Waller Hall Studio Theater. Admission is free.

A contemporary U.S. story of faith, love, and healing, the reading of this play is part of a nationwide event to coincide with Veterans Day and the presidential election.

Spark, by Caridad Svich, is the story of three sisters living in the U.S. and caught in a recent war’s aftermath. It reflects what happens when soldiers come home, when women of little economic means must find ways to make do and carry on, and the strength of family.
