  <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="introduction">With the candidate interviews complete, the IUP presidential search moves into its next phase. The Presidential Search Committee will meet to discuss the five candidates and narrow the pool on Monday, December 12, 2011.</p>
<p>If a decision is reached, the names of the selected candidates will be forwarded to the Council of Trustees for approval during its quarterly meeting on Thursday, December 15.</p>
<p>Following the trustees meeting, a letter identifying the selected candidates will be sent to the chancellor and Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education in Harrisburg, who make the final decision. The committee has been assured that the candidates will be interviewed in a timely manner, with a decision expected early in the spring semester.</p>
<p>The Presidential Search Committee thanks all members of the IUP community for their participation in the search process.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<p>In Pittsburgh recently, the committee completed screening interviews of twelve candidates. From these, six excellent candidates will be invited to campus for campuswide interviews.</p>
<p>The first interview is expected to occur during the week of November 28, 2011. Announcements will be made to the campus community regarding the schedule of visits and the opportunities for faculty, students, staff, administrators, and community members to meet each of the candidates. The committee looks forward to your active participation in this process as we move toward the selection of our new president.</p>

  <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="introduction">The presidential search committee conducted two open forums on Friday, September 9, 2011, in the HUB Ohio Room. Search consultant John Thornburgh from the firm Witt-Kieffer solicited information from faculty, staff, and students in regard to the qualities they would consider critical to the success of the next president of IUP.</p>
<p>Mr. Thornburgh also asked those in attendance to share their ideas as to IUP’s strengths so that this information can be emphasized when communicating with potential candidates. Responses were thoughtful and insightful.</p>
<p>A meeting of the committee will be held within the next ten days to develop a timeline for the vetting of resumes and the scheduling of interviews.</p>

  <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="introduction">The process of conducting the search for IUP's new president has continued through June and July, and the committee has several items to report.</p>
<p>John Thornburgh, the search consultant, visited the IUP campus on June 14, 2011, to gather input from various campus and community constituencies. Following his visit, the position profile was developed and is now available. We feel that it is an informative and visually appealing document that states clearly what IUP has to offer prospective candidates, as well as what our expectations are for the potential applicant.</p>
<p>Two open forums are scheduled once classes resume in the fall. Both will be held in the HUB Ohio Room on September 8. The first forum, scheduled for 12:30 p.m., will be for administrators, staff, and students. The second forum, for faculty members, will begin at 2:00 p.m.</p>
<p>We will look forward to seeing you at the forums, and we continue to welcome your comments or questions in regard to the search process.</p>

  <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="introduction">The Presidential Search Committee met on Monday, May 23, 2011, with our consultant, John Thornburgh of Witt-Kiefer, the firm hired to assist in the search. The search is on schedule, and the committee is comfortable with the process as it has been outlined.</p>
<p>We have a talented, enthusiastic committee, and we feel strongly that IUP has a great deal to offer for candidates aspiring to be our next president.</p>
<p>The IUP community will have numerous opportunities to participate as we move forward. Mr. Thornburgh intends to contact the various constituencies both online and in person as the candidate profile is developed. In addition, the search website will be updated frequently, and we will keep the university well informed of our progress.</p>

<p>Three firms presented to the committee, and the firm of <a title="Executive Search, Executive Recruiting, Leadership Development - Witt/Kieffer" href="http://www.wittkieffer.com/">Witt-Kieffer</a> was selected. The consultant staffing IUP’s search will be John Thornburgh.</p>
<p>We are currently in the process of scheduling the next meeting of the committee, which should occur within the next two weeks. We will update this website periodically to keep the university community informed as to the status of the search process.</p>
