Forms are due by April 30, 2012. Aramark scholarships are established and donated by the IUP food service contractor.</p>
<p>Awards are based on the academic year and include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Five $1,000 on-campus scholarships (<em>must</em> live on campus to qualify)</li>
<li>Five $1,000 off-campus scholarships</li>
<li>Five meal contract scholarships (fourteen meals per week)</li>
</ul>
<h2>Scholarship Criteria</h2>
<ul>
<li>Minimum 30 earned credits at the end of Spring 2012</li>
<li>Maximum 100 earned credits at the end of Spring 2012</li>
<li>GPA 3.0 or above Undergraduate Status</li>
<li>Must have a 2012–2013 FAFSA on file</li>
<li>Deadline for submission is April 30, 2012</li>

Forms are due by April 30, 2012. Aramark scholarships are established and donated by the IUP food service contractor.</p>
<p>Awards are based on the academic year and include:</p>

<li>Five $1,000 on-campus scholarships (<em>must</em> live on campus to qualify)</li>
<li>Five $1,000 off-campus scholarships</li>
<li>Five meal contract scholarships (fourteen meals per week)</li>

  <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="introduction">Aramark at Indiana University of Pennsylvania is pleased to announce the appointments of Jaimie Cherok as catering director and Tammie Trimarchi as assistant catering director and <a title="Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex" href="https://www.iup.edu:443/WorkArea/linkit.aspx?LinkIdentifier=id&amp;ItemID=6383">Kovalchick Complex</a> catering and concessions manager.</p>
<p>Jaimie, the assistant catering director for the past three years, will assume oversight for all catering and concessions responsibilities. <p>Taking Jaimie’s place as assistant catering director and Kovalchick Complex catering and concessions manager will be Tammie Trimarchi. Tammie has been employed with Aramark for two years as a catering supervisor. Tammie will run the day-to-day operations of the Kovalchick Complex catering and concessions.   <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="introduction">Aramark, IUP’s food service contractor, has announced the winners of its Aramark scholarships for 2011–2012.</p>
<p>These scholarships are established and donated by Aramark.</p>
<p>Awards are based on the academic year and include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Five $1,000 on-campus scholarships (<em>must</em> live on campus to qualify)</li>
<li>Five $1,000 off-campus scholarships</li>
<li>Five meal contract scholarships (fourteen meals per week)</li>

<h2>Awards are based on the academic year and include:</h2>

<li>Five $1,000 on-campus scholarships (<em>must</em> live on campus to qualify)</li>
<li>Five $1,000 off-campus scholarships</li>
<li>Five meal contract scholarships (fourteen meals per week)</li>

  <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="introduction">In a collaborative effort to help fight hunger, Kellogg’s Food Away From Home and <a title="Dining" href="https://www.iup.edu:443/WorkArea/linkit.aspx?LinkIdentifier=id&amp;ItemID=697">IUP Dining Services</a> are teaming up for one month to donate cereal to a local area food bank.</p>
<p>A bowl of Kellogg’s cereal will be donated to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank for every bowl of Kellogg’s cereal purchased by students on campus during this promotion. An estimated 6,400 servings of cereal are expected to be donated.</p>
<p>“IUP is very pleased to partner in this initiative with Kellogg’s,” IUP Interim President David Werner said. “This is certainly a win for all involved. This is a nice opportunity for our students to become aware of the needs of our home community and to see how a company can be actively engaged in philanthropy for local towns.”</p>
<p>According to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, hunger transcends all economic and social levels in southwestern Pennsylvania. Urban and rural, children, seniors, working people, in most neighborhoods: hunger is there. In fact one in seven people in the area’s communities doesn’t get enough to eat. This Kellogg and IUP effort helps those in need and provides IUP students with an opportunity to help support this important cause.</p>
<p>“Kellogg has supported food banks across the U.S. for nearly thirty years. On average, the company donates $20 million of products annually,” Tim Knowlton, vice president, Corporate Social Responsibility for Kellogg Company, said. “Our partnership with the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank is an example of our continued commitment to helping those challenged in these economic times.”</p>

  <title>IUP Chef Earns Recognition at Aramark Culinary Excellence Challenge</title>

  <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="introduction"><a title="Dining" href="https://www.iup.edu:443/WorkArea/linkit.aspx?LinkIdentifier=id&amp;ItemID=697">IUP Dining Services</a> is pleased to recognize Chef Kevin Hodgkinson for earning first place at the East Regional Aramark Culinary Excellence (ACE) competition on March 1, 2011.</p>
<p>The ACE Program recognizes and rewards outstanding chefs throughout Aramark-managed higher education accounts and provides the opportunity for the chefs to share their culinary expertise with a broader audience in an environment that is both competitive and stimulating.</p>
<p>The event featured top higher education chefs from the East Region. Each of the participating chefs was selected because he or she consistently strives for culinary excellence and is focused on surpassing customers’ expectations with great meals. Each regional competition features eight chefs who will present a meal made from a mystery basket to three judges. The chefs prepared one show plate each for the students and judges and a taster plate for each judge. Each chef had three hours to prepare their meals from prep to finish.</p>
<p>Chef Hodgkinson has been the catering chef at IUP for three years. Prior to joining the IUP Dining Services team, he worked at the Hilton Hotel and Towers in downtown Pittsburgh for thirteen years. Chef Hodgkinson is a graduate of the prestigious American Culinary Federation program at the Community College of Allegheny County.</p>
<p>On his way to the gold medal, Chef Hodgkinson prepared sea bass with appaloosa bean ragout, Swiss chard with dried cherries and walnuts, and tomato beurre blanc. For dessert, he prepared honey tuille with mascarpone caramel cream, pineapple caramel sauce, and a pineapple fritter.</p>
<p>The 2011 ACE Challenge provides an opportunity for the organization to recognize the talents and creativity of its culinary staff from across the United States and Canada. The competition also provides Aramark chefs with the opportunity to showcase their culinary expertise with a broader audience in a competitive environment.</p>
<p>The top three finalists from each of the nine regions will compete for the coveted “Copper Pot” at the Aramark Culinary Excellence National Challenge, to be held in July in Tampa, Florida.</p>

  <content:encoded><![CDATA[<img class="left-aligned-image" title="Chef Kristin Butterworth" height="244" alt="Chef Kristin Butterworth" https://www.iup.edu:443/uploadedImages/Units/H/Housing_and_Residence_Life/_Dining/News/Dining_News/chef%20(209x270)(1).jpg width="161" align="left" border="0" /><p class="introduction">An Indiana University of Pennsylvania alumna will prepare a special meal for students at Foster Dining Hall on March 2, 2011. Chef Kristin Butterworth, Chef de Cuisine Chef with Lautrec at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, is returning to IUP as part of Aramark’s Guest Chef Program. She is the only female and youngest five-star chef to appear at IUP.</p>
<p>Aramark’s Guest Chef Program is designed to honor the area’s finest chefs, offering them the opportunity to share their talents, tips, and tastes with students. In this case, Chef Butterworth will be returning to IUP, where she graduated with honors from the <a title="Culinary Arts" href="https://www.iup.edu:443/WorkArea/linkit.aspx?LinkIdentifier=id&amp;ItemID=5707">Academy of Culinary Arts</a> in 2002. Kristin will meet and greet students from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, in Foster Dining Hall on the IUP campus. Students will have to opportunity to hear from an IUP alumnus on her experiences and how IUP prepared her for her career.</p>
<p>Kristin knew her calling was in the culinary industry at a very young age. Growing up in rural Western Pennsylvania, she spent summers working in her father’s gardens growing and harvesting vegetables, then learning to prepare and preserve them in her mother’s kitchen. Holidays with her family were spent in the kitchen and around a dinner table draped in Italian foods and traditions. It was through these family gatherings that her interest and love for cooking quickly and, moreover, naturally developed.</p>
<p>After graduating from the Academy of Culinary Arts, Kristin moved to Arizona and enrolled in an internship at the Mobil 5-Star, AAA 5-Diamond, Boulders Resort in Carefree, Ariz., training at its Latilla Restaurant, which is where she was exposed to Southwestern cuisine as well as fine dining for the first time.</p>
<p>Once she completed her internship in Arizona, Kristin returned to Pennsylvania in 2002, where she worked at a small, privately owned Italian restaurant, learning the importance of using only the finest ingredients as well as how to simplify the food showcasing those ingredients. During this time, she had the life-changing opportunity to travel to Italy, where she received a certificate in Italian Cuisine and Pastry at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners.</p>
<p>Upon returning from Italy, Kristin accepted a position at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, a Mobil 4-Star, AAA 4-Diamond Resort in southwestern Pennsylvania. It was during this two-year period in her career that she came into her own style and started to truly embrace the world of cooking. Nemacolin Woodlands also introduced Kristin to the business aspect of its food and beverage operation and allowed her to focus on cost and labor management as well as the development of strong interpersonal relationships in the outlet.</p>
<p>In 2005, Kristin was ready for another challenge and moved to Georgia, working at the Sea Island Resort. She was a valued member of the culinary team that opened the Georgian Room Restaurant and the new Cloister Hotel. A mere fourteen months later, the Georgian Room was awarded the highly acclaimed Mobil 5-Star award. This award of excellence placed Georgian Room among the twenty most elite restaurants in the world.</p>
<p>With passionate direction from Chefs Todd Rogers, John Helfrich, and Scott Crawford, being introduced to a farm-to-table approach, and working very closely with a local grower, Kristin began to embrace her roots and hone in on her own style of cuisine. After working her way from Cook I to Sous Chef at Sea Island, Kristin was offered a Sous Chef position at the prestigious Inn at Little Washington with Chef Patrick O’Connell and his legendary team. This is where she learned the finer points of Refined American Cuisine. Her time at the Inn at Little Washington allowed her to cultivate relationships with local farmers and private growers. Her fascination and love with the farm-to-table movement grew to become a part of the young chef’s daily practices.</p>
<p>In 2010, Kristin returned home to Pennsylvania, where she accepted a Chef De Cuisine position at Nemacolin Woodlands, the very resort that had been the major springboard for her career. Taking the helm of Lautrec, a Forbes 5-Star, AAA 5-Diamond, French-themed restaurant, Kristin was finally able to incorporate her passions and personal cooking style. Her European-influenced cooking, combined with the incorporation of local farms and purveyors, creates a truly unique dining experience. Under Kristin’s direction, Lautrec has once again received the coveted Forbes 5-Star and AAA 5-Diamond awards, making Kristin, at the age of twenty-eight, the youngest and only female five-star chef for 2011.</p>
