Visit the Health AWAREness peer educators’ table next week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, September 6–8, to find out more information about consent.

If the weather is nice, the peers will have their table outside in the Oak Grove or in front of Foster Dining Hall from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

If it is raining, they will be in the HUB by the fitness center or inside Folger Dining Hall.

]]> Mr. Bruce V. Dries 2011-04-01T14:54:00Z Take Back the Night, one of the biggest marches at IUP, is finally here!

Take Back the Night is an annual march to bring awareness regarding the impact of sexual assault and violence on victims and survivors. On Wednesday, April 6, 2011, participants are encouraged to wear their navy blue Take Back the Night t-shirt and meet in the courtyard between Putt and Delaney Halls at 7:45 p.m.

The march will start at 8:00 p.m., rain or shine (rain location will be at the covered entrance to Delaney Hall, at the corner of Grant Street and Pratt Drive).

Participants will carry candles and handmade signs and march through campus. The march will end at the Memorial Field House, where the Survivor Speak Out will take place.

The Survivor Speak Out is a powerful event which offers survivors of violence an opportunity to give voice to their experiences. Some share their stories or provide support to others, while publically affirming their transition from victim to survivor. It is a powerful and empowering event for everyone who attends.

We need your support. Bring a friend, classmate, or just yourself! Show your support to end sexual violence in our community.

Learn how you can be involved by visiting the Health AWAREness information table at the library on Tuesday, March 29, and Wednesday, March 30, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Peer educators will be at the table to discuss how you can be involved in the march.

If you are unable to attend the march, the peers will have a banner that you can sign, and that banner will be carried during the march.

Get ready to participate in one of the biggest marches at IUP, Take Back The Night, on Wednesday, April 6, 2011.

We are hoping that you add this to your calendar. This is a great opportunity to volunteer. We need help in our work against violence!

Historically, women faced the anxiety of walking alone at night, and that is why Take Back the Night began. This is no longer just for women, as we know all people have experienced violence of some sort.

We will march through campus and parts of Indiana to show our support to victims of violence and to display our commitment to ending violence.
