Winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Spring Awakening will be performed in Fisher Auditorium on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at 8:00 p.m.

This landmark musical is an electrifying fusion of morality, sexuality, and rock and roll that is exhilarating audiences across the nation like no other musical in years.

Producers Ira Pittelman and Tom Hulce said, “When we decided to bring this show to Broadway, we knew that the issues explored in Frank Wedekind’s 1891 banned play were still relevant today. The show has become a cross-generational phenomenon that continues to transcend age and cultural barriers. We hope that you will find Spring Awakening not only entertaining, but thought provoking and insightful into those teenage issues experienced in every century, the world over.”

Tickets are sold through the HUB Ticket Office. Get them in person, by phone at 724-357-1313, or online at IUP Tickets.

Professional artists interact with students on the day of their Fisher Auditorium show through dance, improv, piano, guitar, songwriting, and discussion. During the Fall 2010 semester, area high school students met with artists from A Chorus Line, Spamalot, and Boyz II Men. Spring semester master classes being planned include artists from Fiddler on the Roof, 101 Years of Broadway, Cats, and Little Anthony and the Imperials. Last year's master classes were taught by artists from Stomp, Annie, Lord of the Dance, and Who’s Live Anyway?—just to name a few.

The program has been recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development as an “innovative and educational program,” and, as such, is an eligible organization under the Educational Improvement Tax Credit program. OnStage in School is conducted without any cost to the school districts, and is sponsored by Indiana First Bank.

For seventeen men and women, this Broadway musical audition is the chance of a lifetime. But before the final cut is made, the director asks each of them to talk about themselves. He wants to know about their families, friends, lovers, ambitions, and careers. From funny to heartbreaking, these seventeen dancers share with us the stories of their lives.
Comedians, commentators, and fans love Lewis Black because of his insights and love/hate relationship with America—which are brilliantly expressed in his concerts and TV appearances worldwide.
The Clarks are an American rock band that have somehow managed to stay together for over twenty years, support themselves through their music, and remain relative unknowns. Much in the way that Bob Seger was a Detroit-area favorite for over a decade before exploding on the national scene with his Night Moves album, The Clarks, though musically worlds apart, have been superstars in and around their hometown of Pittsburgh, succeeding in Pennsylvania as the national stage awaits them. Now, with the straight-ahead, guitar-driven rock of their album Restless Days, The Clarks are poised to make the same kind of mainstream crossover that Seger experienced in 1976. In fact, perhaps not since Seger has there been an act that’s received such extraordinary notoriety year after year in their hometown while remaining under the radar for the rest of America. But The Clarks have a sound that’s bigger than one town. From the scorching guitars of “Trampoline” to the storytelling of “Midnight Rose,” the new songs deliver a real rock band playing real instruments. Add in overlapping vocals, driving percussion, and great hooks, and you’ve got a cohesive collection of muscular music from a seasoned band that knows their trade. If Green Day played songs written by Paul McCartney, the result might sound a bit like Restless Days.

This new album, The Clarks’ first studio CD in five years, features twelve tracks in all—eleven original songs by The Clarks, plus a rollicking cover of “Wonderful World,” which was commissioned by the Pittsburgh Penguins and used as part of their 2008–2009 season marketing campaign.

Performing live on Sunday, September 13, 2009, at Fisher Auditorium, IUP Campus, Indiana, Pa.

With his husky, soulful baritone, Michael McDonald became one of the most distinctive and popular vocalists to emerge from the laid-back California pop/rock scene of the late ’70s. McDonald found the middle ground between blue-eyed soul and smooth soft rock, a sound that made him a star. He initially essayed his signature style with the Doobie Brothers, ushering in the group’s most popular period with hits like “What a Fool Believes” (which won three Grammys), “Minute By Minute,” and “Taking It to the Streets.”
