Spring cleaning, anyone? Clean out your closets and donate your gently used clothing and shoes at the Clothing and Shoe Drive being held March 19–23, 2012, from noon to 6:00 p.m. outside the HUB Fitness Center.

Clothing items are being donated to Goodwill, a nonprofit organization that collects clothing and other goods and sells them in their stores nationwide. The revenue generated from the sales is used to funds Goodwill’s education, career counseling, and other programs that help displaced workers get back on their feet. 93 cents of every dollar earned goes towards these programs.

For every five to ten clothing items, chances will be given to win in a raffle! This year we are raffling off an Amazon Kindle Fire, a Keurig coffee machine, and gift cards from Sheetz, Olive Garden, and Starbucks.

Shoes are being donated to Soles4Souls, an international organization that takes donated shoes to people in need in over 120 countries worldwide. This drive is cosponsored with Michael B. Shoes/Campus Corner, which will give every donor a $5 coupon to their store as a thank-you for their donation!

So what are you waiting for? Get cleanin’!

Contact Malia Lazor at 724-357-3103 or m.a.lazor@iup.edu with any questions.

Join the Office of Service Learning in supporting Indiana County Family Promise.

Would you like a nice home-cooked spaghetti dinner? The Homer City Church of the Nazarene is holding a spaghetti dinner on November 15, 2011, to benefit Indiana County Family Promise. This organization is working to fight homelessness throughout Indiana County.

The dinner will be held at the Homer City Church of the Nazarene from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. November 15 falls in the middle of National Hunger and Homelessness week, so this is a great way to show your support of these initiatives.

If you like, the Office of Service Learning is coordinating with this group to bring these spaghetti dinners to campus. We will be dropping off dinners at the HUB parking lot that evening.

The cost of a dinner is $6 for adults, $3 for children, and free for those less than five years old. All dinner orders will be entered to win door prizes, and you do not have to be present to win.

If you would like to order a dinner, please stop by the Office of Service Learning, 301 Pratt Hall, call 724-357-3103, or e-mail acc@iup.edu.

Thank you for supporting this worthy cause.
